Meet our WP7 Leader!
Name: Manolis Ntoumas
Institution: Institute of Oceanography – Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR)
My role in Nautilos: I am the Work Package 7 leader, coordinating the project demonstrations activities. Together with the WP7 partners we are going to design and perform coastal and open sea missions and experiments to demonstrate the NAUTILOS products in parallel operations with existing scientific infrastructures. We are focused on providing direct data comparisons for each parameter, evaluate the new technologies but also to quantify in terms of scientific coherency the combined coastal and open sea (deep sea) data products.
Who am I: I got my B.Sc. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete (2006) and my M.Sc. in Marine Technology and Science from National Technical University of Athens (2009). Since 2010 I work as a research engineer at the POSEIDON marine environmental monitoring, forecasting (Weather, Ocean, Sea State, Ecosystem) and information system for the Greek seas. During the last decade I have participated in numerous international and national projects dealing with several aspects of operational oceanography and marine technology. It is vital for me to participate in innovating new ideas and actions and I really enjoy the opportunity to meet and work together with people all around the world.
